residencies

Urban Boat, co-funder of the In.out.sider festival, is a meandering cultural project which finds its home on a fully functional canal barge based in the North of France. In the continuation of Urban Spree, a Berlin-based art space dedicated to urban cultures and music, Urban Boat has been navigating the waters of creativity for five years. Fully equipped with a solar stage, a sound system, and all facilities to host concerts on board, the boat traveled to Brussels for the first edition of the festival and kicked off the event with several concerts on the water, just a few steps away from LaVallée.

Beyond its role as an event space, Urban Boat also serves as a creative hub, offering a spacious work area, a sound studio and a set of cabins designed to host artists in residency. Preceding the In.out.sider festival, Urban Boat dedicates a period to artist residencies, welcoming on board individuals with and without mental disabilities. This initiative aims to support artists in developing their musical projects and provides them with a platform to showcase their creations during the festival.

2023 - BOYGIRL

From September 23 to 28, Urban Boat hosted artists Frank de Quengo, Wilfrid, and Matthieu Morin from the La Belle Brute collective, along with Lucile Notin-Bourdeau, for an artistic residency centered around their musical project "BoyGirl" – an improvised, ever-evolving formation born from the encounter in February 2017 in Lille between the collective members and Lucile during the screening of the documentary "sa normalité," directed by Eugénie Bourdeau about her daughter. This residency period allowed them to deepen the work initiated through various concerts and a previous residency at the Fonderie Theater in Le Mans.

2022 - RON PON

RON-PON is born out of the meeting of David Bausseron and Thierry Dupont. This raw duo, influenced by the Vega scene, navigates a minimalist and grandiose improvised rock terrain, blending synthesizers, electric guitars, drums, drum machines, and vocals into a whirlwind of lyricism, dreamlike atmospheres, and bold experimentation.
